We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Dr. John L. Bryan, the founding chair and professor emeritus of the University of Maryland's Department of Fire Protection Engineering. We would like to share the following link for his obituary and information on the memorial arrangements:

Dr. Bryan's family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16th at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, located at 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD.

Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17th at Calvary United Methodist Church, located at 131 West 2nd Street, Frederick, MD 21701.

Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, located at 515 South Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701.

The Department of Fire Protection Engineering is in the process of composing a more comprehensive release that describes Professor Bryan’s role and contributions, and will share this information soon.
