International Applicants
The UMD Graduate School offers admission to international students based on academic information; it is not a guarantee of attendance. Successful applicants who are neither U.S. citizens nor permanent residents will be contacted by the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) to verify visa status and collect the financial documents required to receive Form I-20 or DS-2019, which are needed to obtain a student visa.

Many of our past international graduates have been able to find work in FPE companies in the US through transitions from a UMD Graduate Degree to the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program and from the OPT program to a H-1B Visa.
Visit the UMD International Students & Scholars (ISSSS) website for information about visas and immigration.
