Applications Open for Two Faculty Positions

The Department of Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) is searching for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor and a professional-track Clinical Associate Professor to join a diverse team of fire safety educators.

FPE is a unique academic unit dedicated to the education of fire safety engineers and researchers as well as to the advancement of fire safety science. Fire safety is an interdisciplinary field that includes the dynamics of fire and smoke (in structures and in the wildland), the design of fire-safe systems, the study of people’s behavior in fire, the design of safe egress solutions and the environmental impact of fire, among other areas. 

Fire research includes, but is not limited to, the fundamentals of combustion, material flammability, fire suppression, wildland fires and wildland-urban-interface fires, process safety and explosions and other key areas.

The department strongly encourages women and underrepresented minorities to apply, as well as it invites candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations through research, teaching and mentoring to identify their experience in these areas.
