Department of Fire Protection Engineering Distinguished Alumnus David J. Icove, Ph.D., P.E., FSFPE (B.S. ’75) has been elected to the rank of Fellow of the National Academy of Forensic Engineers. Icove, a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, spent over forty years as a federal law enforcement agent, helping authorities investigate and analyze fire scenes at the local, state and national levels. He currently serves as a Professor of the Practice in the University of Tennessee’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, where he conducts research and teaches a course in forensic engineering. He is the coauthor of several books, including Kirk’s Fire Investigation, Forensic Fire Scene Reconstruction, and Computer Crime: A Crimefighter’s Handbook.
